In 2020 Soldiers Hill Artist Collective Inc. (SHAC), decided to create an annual award for a graduating student from Federation University Australia, Ballarat - Arts Academy. Towards the end of the university year, a panel of judges (all SHAC members) are invited by Federation University Australia, Ballarat - Arts Academy to view a selection of folios (shortlisted by the university) from the graduating students.
The announcement of the award is made at the Federation University Australia - Ballarat Awards Night as part of the EYE (End of Year Exhibition), held at the end of the year at the Mining Exchange. Because SHAC is a not-for-profit organisation without the capacity to offer a cash prize, the SHAC Award is quite practical for the graduating student.

Under the award, SHAC will:
- exhibit the student's work in a SHAC exhibition during the following year
- invite the student to work with SHAC members to learn how to bump in and bump out an exhibition
- include the student's work and profile in the SHAC Annual magazine
- feature the student in our social media content and in our monthly newsletter
- provide the student with a one-on-one interview with a journalist or editor from The Courier, from which a feature article will be published in The Courier
- have honorary SHAC membership for twelve months
- be entitled to be a continuing member of SHAC (fee paying) after twelve months

Travis Trudgeon - SHAC - Federation University, Arts Academy, Bachelor of Visual Arts - End of Year Graduate, award 2023. Travis will be part of the Soldiers Hill Artis Collective and will participate/contribute to the yearly meetings and in various SHAC exhibitions.
