My love of photography began in childhood when I was gifted a “Kodak Brownie Starlet” by my mother. I eventually progressed to Nikon, and my camera is my companion as I travel the world in retirement. Apart from capturing the journey, I also search for images that reflect the complexities of life. My favourite composition is portraits, especially with the subject’s natural environment in the background. More recently, I have learnt how to build upon the original using Photoshop and Lightroom to improve the force of the photograph. I tend to prefer colour to black and white and periodically attend photography classes to develop my skills. Over the last year, I have been working on a coffee-table book that outlines my partner’s successful life journey in gold prospecting. This has involved working with old images plus creating new still life compositions. These are popular, and I plan to market the photographs more broadly in the coming year. I don’t classify myself as a professional photographer, but an amateur who loves photography and challenging myself to always improve EM: [email protected] |
